Summer Lovin'

Don't you just love the sunshine?  Here at Sitting Pretty we are glad the summer is here because for us that means we can make monster ice cream milkshakes and sundaes for you to enjoy.

Our milkshake menu is quite epic at the moment, 13 flavours and counting, will it be mint chocolate or salted caramel?  Banana or even lime?  We all have our favourites here and would love for you to come along and try them too.  Made with vanilla ice cream, topped with whipped cream and a cherry too, you can lounge in the tea room or garden and enjoy the sun.

Our children's milkshakes are served in vintage milk bottles - just enough for little tums and not as rich, but full of flavour.

Come along and indulge in a milkshake, who knows, a cake may take your fancy as well!

Welcome to the family!

With our grand re-opening happening very soon, Sitting Pretty is very pleased to welcome three new members of staff to the family.

Please join me in welcoming Gary, Nathan and Heather to the folds.

Gary and Nathan are bringing some fantastic culinary skills to our menus, you will see them split between front of house and the kitchen work.

Gary, a keen cyclist who is soon moving to Lancaster brings his experience from his extensive work with Sizergh Castle and the National Trust Cafe/Restaurant there, as well as being runner up in Young Chef of the Year.

Nathan who is also soon moving back to Lancaster, completed both his Under Graduate and Masters at Lancaster University in Fine Art and Contemporary Arts. His wealth of experience comes from long standing rolls in the customer service industry and being the chef and floor manager at The Coffee Mill in Skipton.

Heather, who is currently studying at Lancaster University has a passion for artisan baking and preserves.  Having worked with English Preserves in London and spending a year in France developing her bakery and patisserie skills, Heather will be doing the majority of the baking and confectionery for Sitting Pretty.

Vicky will also be rejoining the team who worked at Sitting Pretty previously in her position in front of house.

Please join me in welcoming them all to Sitting Pretty!

Things get difficult before they become easy!

We are coming back folks!  It has been a long few months and I know Sitting Pretty has been missed, we have missed you too and are so excited to be getting so close to opening, its like having butterflies all over again.

The new Sitting Pretty Vintage Tea Room will be opening in November.  The building in Galgate which many of you have been to previously is under going major refurbishment by local builder GORAB - Geoff Oultram Roofing and Building.  Over the last few weeks I have been watching the transformation take place and at times I have to admit that I have cried because of the monster of a project the refurbishment is.

We had been going along on our project timescale so well when we hit a snag - woodworm and rot was found in some of the timbers so these needed to be fixed.  What I did not expect was that a third of the downstairs ceiling, joists and lintels would need to be replaced.

I have faith in my building team and they are doing the most fantastic job.  Take a look at some of the photos of how the Tea Room stands now - you may be a little shocked!

I will update on the progress soon!  I know that it is going to add to the WOW factor of our reopening!
